We will have two 10 month, full-time postions for the 2024-2025 school year.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of pupils to discover their health needs and problems and to establish priorities for action.
- Interpret the health and developmental status of the pupils for parents, school personnel and also for the pupil.
- Interpret the results of medical findings concerning the pupil to parents, school personnel and for the pupil.
- Counsel the pupil, his parents and school personnel. Plan action for eliminating, minimizing or accepting the health problems that interfere with pupils' effective learning.
- Guide those responsible for pupils health to find and use appropriate resources.
- Recommend modification in educational program when indicated.
- Will be responsible for supervision of vision and hearing screening and will make all referrals and follow up on these referrals.
- Will serve as a health consultant and resource person in health instruction curriculum planning by providing current information.
- Will actively participate in classroom instruction in varied areas of the health and science curriculum.
- Will use direct health services as a vehicle for health counseling.
- Will protect student health by attention to environmental health factors and by providing emergency care for illness and injury occurring in school and while the student is under the jurisdiction of the school.
- Serve as an active, contributing member of the child study team, identifying, evaluating and providing for students in special educational programs.
- Compiles a health history as part of a case study evaluation.
- Serve as a liaison between the parents, school and the community in all health matters.
- Works with community agencies for effective use of their resources and facilities.
- Will maintain accurate student health records.
- Will become familiar with the state, county and local health agencies, physicians and specialists.
- Will comply with state laws regarding any health matters.
- Pursues educational studies to maintain and improve professional level of performance.
- Supervises and evaluates students from Baccalaureate programs and school nurse certification programs.
- Provides ongoing training, planning, and supervision of registered nurses.
Requirements: • Professional Educator License with School Nurse endorsement
