Job Description: The EL/Bilingual Resource Teacher shall provide instruction to help potentially English proficient (PEP) students develop cognitive, academic, language abilities in order to function at grade level in a monolingual English class.
Primary responsibilites:
- Identify and assess academic level, language proficiency level, cultural history, linguistic history of students who may be/are eligible for bilingual services;
- Make recommendations as to the best placement within the Transitional Bilingual Program (full time or part time);
- Provide direct bilingual and English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) instruction to students;
- Participate in the Child Study Team meetings and staffings of potentially English proficient students.
Requirements: Illinois Professional Educator License. Transitional Bilingual Approval, English as a Second Language Endorsement or license. Background in Language Arts. Fluency in Spanish and English. Experiences in intercultural mediation.
